Israel to host Miss Universe Pageant
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 edition of the Miss Universe contest was cancelled.
Jerusalem24 – AFP – The Israeli Ministry of Tourism announced on Tuesday that it will host the Miss Universe contest for the first time, noting that the events of this aesthetic event will take place in December in the southern city of Eilat overlooking the Red Sea.
“We in Israel are happy to host the activities of the 70th edition of the famous Miss Universe contest,” Tourism Minister, Yoel Razvozov, said in a video message.
“I sincerely hope that next December we will not only celebrate the new Miss Universe here in Israel, but especially, the end of the pandemic,” he added.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 edition of the Miss Universe contest was cancelled.
In mid-May, Miss Mexico Andrea Mesa won the title of Miss Universe in the 69th edition of the competition hosted by the United States, succeeding South African Zozibini Tunzi, Miss Universe 2019.
A Ministry of Tourism statement quoted Paula M. Shugart, head of the organization that organizes the Miss Universe Pageant, said that “Israel has been on our list of host countries for many years because of its rich history, beautiful landscapes, and rich cultures.”
According to the statement, delegations from about 100 countries are expected to arrive in Israel to attend the event, which will be broadcast in nearly 160 countries and regions around the world.
