UNRWA Announces the Depletion of Its Flour Supplies In the Gaza Strip.

Jerusalem24 – The United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA) announced on Sunday that its flour supplies in the Gaza Strip had run out.

The agency published on its X account: “The World Food Programme announced on April 25 that its food stocks in Gaza were completely depleted, and UNRWA flour supplies ran out earlier this week.”

It explained that it has approximately 3,000 trucks loaded with life-saving aid ready to enter Gaza, but that Israel is preventing the aid trucks from entering.

UNRWA stressed that the years-long blockade imposed by Israel on the Strip must be lifted.

UNRWA added that “hunger is worsening in Gaza,” explaining that the people of the Strip, including children, “hope to receive some food to survive through the warm meals distributed by charitable organizations.”

On Friday, the World Food Programme announced that its food stocks in Gaza had been “completely depleted” due to the seven-week absence of aid from the Strip due to the Israeli closure of the crossings. This closure represents “the longest closure the Gaza Strip has ever witnessed, exacerbating the already fragile conditions in markets and food systems.” The Gaza Strip, with a population of approximately 2.4 million, is almost entirely dependent on humanitarian aid, which has been completely halted since March 2, when the Israeli authorities closed the Strip’s crossings.
