Zakaria Zubaidi’s brother dies following Israeli raid
Jerusalem24– 43-year-old Daoud Al-Zubaidi has died of injuries sustained in the Friday attack by Israeli forces on Jenin, Rambam hospital in Haifa announced today.
Zubaidi was shot and captured on Friday morning during an Israeli raid on Jenin refugee camp, two days after the killing of prominent Aljazeera journalist Shireen Abu Akleh.
Zubaidi’s family said he was critically wounded after being shot in the abdomen.
Daoud Zubaidi is the brother of Palestinian political prisoner Zakaria Zubaidi, who in September last year managed to escape from Israeli high-security Gilboa prison along with five others. All six escapees were recaptured within a week.
Daoud Zubaidi has spent a total of 12 years in Israeli prisons, with his latest stint lasting 18 months.
Zubaidi’s mother Samira Zubaidi and brother Taha were killed during the Battle of Jenin in 2002 at the height of the second Intifada. All of the Zubaidi brothers have been arrested by the Israeli occupation, and their family home was demolished twice.
