Jerusalem24 – Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian teen during a violent raid on Jenin refugee camp last night.
16-year-old Dirar Al-Kafrini was shot with live ammunition when a contingent of undercover Israeli special forces invaded the camp to arrest Sheikh Bassam Al-Saadi, a leader with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad.
An Israeli sniper deployed on top of a residential building shot Dirar from approximately 90 meters, away, according to documentation collected by Defense for Children International – Palestine (DCI-P).
The Palestinian Ministry of Health said the teenager was rushed to Jenin Public Hospital in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead shortly afterwards.
Director of Jenin Public Hospital Wessam Baker said that explosive bullets struck him in the shoulder, penetrated his chest, and exploded inside, causing his immediate death.
Another Palestinian was taken to Ibn Sina Hospital where his condition was described as moderate.
Dirar is the 18th Palestinian child shot and killed by Israeli forces in 2022.
“Israeli forces know no bounds and continue to kill Palestinian children with impunity,” said Ayed Abu Eqtaish, accountability program director at DCIP. “Israeli soldiers seemingly shoot to kill with complete disregard for international norms, perpetrating war crimes, as the international community stands silent.”
