Israel Approves the Establishment of 4 Settlements in Negev
Jerusalem24 – The Israeli government approved, on Sunday, the establishment of four new settlements in the Negev on the 1948 lands.
The approval of the Israeli government came, during its weekly meeting, where it is expected to ratify five other settlements initially.
Israeli Interior Minister Ayelet Shaked considered that the new settlements “will give an important force to strengthen settlements in the Negev,” claiming that “this is an important step that reflects more than anything else a diversified social-planning policy that seeks to strengthen the areas outside central Israel and by encouraging new settlement. And 10 settlements in the Negev are the Zionist project in all its glory.”
Construction Minister Ze’ev Elkin claimed that “the promotion of the establishment of new settlements in the Negev is the dream of Zionist settlement, and it will stimulate the movement of residents from central Israel to its south and will enhance the economy of the Negev and the security of residents in the entire region.”
