The Joint List calls on the US Secretary of State to reopen the consulate in East Jerusalem

Jerusalem24 – Representatives of the Joint List sent a written letter to US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken, asking him to “re-open the US Consulate in East Jerusalem, after it was closed by the previous US administration, which took dangerous steps against the Palestinians, to satisfy the Israeli extremist right-wing groups and its goals.”
The deputies pointed out that “the closure of the consulate previously was accompanied by the promotion of the illegal annexation attempt initiated by the Israeli government, and support for the idea of Greater Israel, which believes in controlling the lives of Palestinians and the fate of the Palestinian people, in addition to the downgrading of the status of the Palestinian people, as an office for its affairs was allocated in The US Embassy in Israel.

These steps were met with rejection not only by the Palestinian leaders, but by the unanimity of the Palestinian people, as well as a large group of the Israeli side that truly believes in a just and lasting peace between the two sides.
The Representatives of the Joint List’s message came after the Israeli Prime Minister, Naftali Bennett’s request, and his government rejecting the re opening of  the US consulate in occupied Jerusalem.
