Three Palestinians killed, eight injured in Israeli army raid
Jerusalem24 – Israeli forces shot and killed three Palestinian men and injured another eight during a raid on Jenin refugee camp in the occupied West Bank this morning before dawn.
23-year-old Youssef Nasser Salah, 24-year-old Baraa Kamal Lahlouh, and 24-year-old Laith Abu Sarour were killed when the car they were traveling in was showered with bullets.
Salah’s brother Saad Salah was killed by Israeli forces at age 21 in 2017, while Abu Sarour’s brother was killed in 2007.
According to local sources, Israeli forces entered the camp in Jenin early this morning and headed towards the house of Raed Khazem, who killed three Israelis in an attack in Tel Aviv on 7 April and whose family home is slated for punitive demolition by Israeli forces. Locals said Israeli snipers deployed around the area and targeted Palestinians who came to confront the soldiers.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health reported eight injuries ranging from moderate to severe.
The Israeli army released a statement on Twitter saying it had “responded with live fire” to Palestinian gunman during an “[operation] in Jenin Camp to locate and confiscate illegal weapons.” They further stated that they “responded with live fire to neutralize [armed] assailants” inside a vehicle after coming under fire, and shared a picture of weapons they claim were found inside the vehicle.
One Twitter user pointed out the weapons were disassembled.
