Officials worldwide call for investigation into killing of journalist
Jerusalem24– US Ambassador to Israel Tom Nides has called for a thorough investigation into the circumstances of the killing of journalist Shireen Abu Akleh.
Very sad to learn of the death of American and Palestinian journalist Shireen Abu Akleh of @AJArabic @AJEnglish. I encourage a thorough investigation into the circumstances of her death and the injury of at least one other journalist today in Jenin.

Abu Akleh had both American and Palestinian citizenship.
The US Palestinian Affairs Unit as well as the Office of the EU Representative in the West Bank and Gaza have called for an investigation into the killing.

“[It is] imperative to ensure the safety and protection of journalists covering conflicts,” it added.
In Ramallah, the Palestinian General Prosecutor said it had already begun the investigation, through the prosecutor of international crimes specialized in documenting internal crimes for the International Criminal Court, as a prelude to referring the case to the office of the general prosecutor of the ICC.
