UNICEF: 13 Palestinian children killed in West Bank in 2022
Jerusalem24– UNICEF issued a statement on Sunday calling for the protection of Palestinian children after a third Palestinian child was killed this week.
14-year-old Zaid Saeed Ghuneim was killed in Bethlehem on Friday after being shot in the back and neck by Israeli forces who pursued him into a garage.
Ghuneim is the thirteenth Palestinian child to be shot and killed by Israeli forces in the West Bank in 2022 – twice as many as during the same period last year, according to UNICEF.
Adele Khodr, UNICEF Regional Director for the Middle East and North Africa, said in the statement: “A child is a child, and their right to life must be protected by all parties. Children should never be targeted. They should never be put in harm’s way or be exposed to violence.”
