Self-demolition of two homes in the town of Jabal Mukaber in occupied Jerusalem
Jerusalem24 – Two Palestinian brothers from Jerusalem demolished their homes today, Monday, after the Israeli municipality forced them to demolish them in the town of Jabal Mukaber, southeast of Jerusalem.
The Israeli municipality forced the two brothers, Daoud and Mahmoud Shqeirat, to demolish their homes in the town of Jabal Mukaber.
The two houses have been built since 2013, and the area of each house is about eighty square meters.
The two brothers said that the municipality did not grant them a building permit, and the case of their homes continued in the Israeli courts until it finally ruled that they would either demolish their own homes or that the municipality demolish them with a heavy fine.
Owners of the houses threatened with demolition in the town of Jabal Al-Mukabber and dozens of solidarity activists organized a sit-in yesterday in front of the Israeli municipality building in the occupied city of Jerusalem. The gathering was in protest against the mass demolition and displacement carried out by the municipality in the occupied city.
The Israeli authorities demolished (317) homes in separate parts of the occupied city of Jerusalem during 2021.
