Clashes at Damascus Gate

Jerusalem24 – Last night, clashes erupted between dozens of Palestinians and the Israeli forces, in the vicinity of Damascus Gate in occupied Jerusalem leaving 19 Palestinians injured.

Local sources reported that clashes erupted in the Damascus Gate area and extended towards Bab Al-Sahira and Sultan Suleiman Street, during which the Israeli forces pursued the young men and set up checkpoints around Bab Al-Sahira.

Meanwhile, the Israeli police fired rubber-coated bullets and tear gas canisters at the young men, while they arrested two young men from the Damascus Gate area.

The Red Crescent announced the documentation of 19 injuries, 15 of them were treated in the field, while 4 of the injured were transferred to the hospital for further treatment.

Local sources indicated that the Israeli forces arrested a young man after large numbers of the Israeli police attacked him with batons, and an undercover unit of Mustaravim arrested another young man from the place after chasing him. The Israeli forces also assaulted an elderly man in the vicinity of Damascus Gate in occupied Jerusalem and then arrested him.

As for the number of detainees during the confrontations, the Prisoners Information Office announced that the Israeli forces arrested about 10 Jerusalemites during the clashes in Damascus Gate, two of them by an undercover unit, while two young men and an elderly were assaulted, causing them various injuries, and they were all transferred to the Al-Maskobiya prison in West Jerusalem.
