Gantz to connect settlements and outposts to infrastructure grid
Meanwhile, Lapid opposes move.
Jerusalem24 – Israel Channel 7 revealed that Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz is working to approve linking new settlements and outposts in the occupied West Bank to the electricity and water infrastructure.
Meanwhile, Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid opposed the connection of electricity to the new settlement outposts in the West Bank on the grounds that they are illegal.
And the channel reported today, Tuesday, that dozens of settlements will be connected to electricity and water by order of the army commanders in the West Bank after Gantz makes a final decision in this regard.
It noted that the village of Khan al-Ahmar will not be connected to water and electricity, claiming that it is illegal.
The channel indicated that in recent weeks, discussions took place between security and legal officials in the Defense Ministry, who drew up recommendations and put them on Gantz’s desk.
The channel also noted that after Gantz’s final approval, the settlements will be connected to electricity, and then the security components will be provided to them.
