Reducing telecommunications prices in Palestine early next month

The Minister of Communications, Ishaq Sidr, announced the reduction of the access lines in Palestine, as of the beginning of next month in a press conference today.

Jerusalem24 – The Minister of Communications, Ishaq Sidr, announced the reduction of the access lines in Palestine, as of the beginning of next month.

Minister Sidr confirmed that the Palestinian Telecommunications Company (Paltel) has been informed of this decision, which in turn will announce the new prices to citizens, so that they can benefit from the announced discounts and move to higher speeds at a lower cost, noting that the reduction decision will take effect from 1-4-2021, and the citizen will notice his results in his bill, which will be issued in May.

The ministry also instructed to reduce the cost of connecting Paltel to internet service providers, which means encouraging suppliers to make offers for the benefit of the citizen, who will in turn obtain an Internet speed similar to the speed of the access line he is using. His Excellency the Minister Sidr called on suppliers to take advantage of the discount granted on the interconnection and the initiation of competitive offers that serve the citizen.

This decision comes in line with the directives of the Prime Minister, Dr. Muhammad Shtayyeh, who announced yesterday, Monday, 3/22/2021, in the cabinet session, which provides reducing the prices of communications in Palestine, based on the government’s approach to digital transformation, and in response to citizens’ demands, especially in light of the conditions imposed by the pandemic, in terms of dependence on the Internet, in distance education, providing some services, in addition to the long hours that citizens spend on browsing social networking sites, watching movies, and electronic games.

It is noteworthy that this reduction in telecommunications services in Palestine is the second of its kind, as the Ministry previously issued a similar decision in 2019.
