Ahmad Manasra transferred to prison hospital one day before court hearing
Jerusalem24– Ahmad Manasra was transferred to Al-Ramleh Prison Hospital during the night, one day ahead of a court hearing to decide on the effects of solitary confinement on his wellbeing.
The defense team for 21-year-old Manasra, who has been detained in Israeli prisons since the age of 13, released an urgent statement saying the Israeli prosecution ordered the transfer of Manasra to Al-Ramleh due to “the deterioration of his mental health”, without disclosing further details.
The team added they were informed that the prison doctor has issued an order for Manasra to be held at the prison hospital for 10 days.
In their statement, the defense team said that they had previously issued warnings that solidarity confinement would exacerbate Manasra’s already severe mental health condition. “If the Israeli authorities ignore the search for alternative solutions to solitary, this will harm the safety and health of the child, Manasra.”
The defense team stated that they hold the Israeli authorities fully responsible for compromising Manasra’s safety and health.
