Israel considers adding attack helicopters and drones to West Bank operations

Jerusalem24– The Israeli military is considering reinforcing its ongoing operations in the West Bank with attack helicopters and drones following the death of an Israeli officer during a raid on the Jenin refugee camp last week.
In the proposed revamp of the military’s West Bank defensive strategy, helicopters and drones may be used to secure ground troops through the use of deterrent fire and possibly shoot at armed combatants, according to the Times of Israel.
A senior military source said the Israeli forces were also considering introducing special drone units into its West Bank operations.
Israel has rarely employed attack helicopters in the West Bank since the second Intifada. However, the proposed move comes amid an increase in the size and intensity of recent clashes, particularly in the Jenin area.
