Palestinians protest cultural appropriation
Anger over images of Palestinian traditional dresses used in Miss Universe 2021 in Israel.

Jerusalem24 – Dozens of Palestinian men and women participated in a demonstration in Ramallah today against Israel’s usage of Palestinian traditional dresses in the Miss Universe Contest.
The participants stood at the Al-Manara roundabout in the center of the city wearing traditional Palestinian clothes and sang songs from Palestinian heritage.
They also presented popular Palestinian dishes, the most important of which were maftoul and falafel. They also used and shown some traditional pottery and utensils.
The space was filled with the sounds of chants emphasizing the importance Palestinians have placed on their traditions and heritage.
This anger comes after images tweeted by Beatrice Gomez, Miss Phillipines, wearing Palestinian Thobs writing “Day in the life of a Bedouin” with a camel emoji surfaced. Inciting anger against the appropriation of culture.
