Jerusalem24 – MP Jamal Al-Khudari, head of the Popular Committee Against the Siege, confirmed that the suffering of Palestinian women is extended in Jerusalem, the West Bank and the Gaza Strip due to the ongoing Israeli occupation measures and policies, indicating that the unemployment rate among women in Gaza exceeds 80%,
Al-Khudari stressed, in a statement issued on International Women’s Day, today, Monday 3/8/2021, that the suffering of Palestinian women is doubled, but she still gives, and they must have a role and place, so that their energies are invested in building and development.
He said, “She is the one who bears important family burdens, lives the brunt of the blockade in Gaza, settlement and the wall in the West Bank, Judaization, detention and deportation in Jerusalem, and the targeting in every place such as house demolitions, detention and all forms of aggression.”
He added, “International Women’s Day in Palestine is different, and in Gaza the humanitarian conditions are more difficult, and the role of Palestinian women remains a safety valve in all stages.”
He stressed the importance of the role of Palestinian women in national and political work. He said, “The participation of women in the upcoming Palestinian elections as a candidate and election is of great importance, as the role of women, especially in Palestine, which suffers from the ravages of occupation, siege, Judaization and aggression is appreciated.”
“How many success stories that Palestinian women have achieved nationally and politically and in various fields, despite suffering and difficulties,” he added.
Al-Khudari pointed out that the participation of women in the upcoming democratic process over a period of months to elect a legislative council, a president and a national council, is a success in itself. Achieving national unity and fulfilling many of the requirements for the steadfastness of our people. ”
