Israeli forces detain dozens of Palestinians overnight
Jerusalem24 – Israeli Occupation Forces carried out a widespread arrest campaign across the West Bank this morning, with more than 40 Palestinians arrested.
At least 30 were arrested from the town of Silwad east of Ramallah, according to the Palestinian Prisoners’ Society (PPS). Palestinians from Ramallah, Tulkarem, Qalqilya, Jenin, Hebron and Jerusalem were also targeted.
The PPS clarified that Silwad has recently witnessed an escalation of arrest campaigns, and widespread abuse and property damage at the hands of Israeli soldiers. Several former Palestinian prisoners were taken into custody who have been arrested multiple times before.
Israeli Occupation Forces also distributed leaflets warning residents to “watch out” for their children:
“Your clashes with the army will not go unanswered. Watch out for your children.”
Israeli occupation forces also shot and killed 20-year-old Rafiq Riyadh Ghannam during confrontations in Jaba’ in the northern occupied West Bank this morning after dawn.
Ghannam was detained by Israeli forces after he was seriously wounded by live bullets.
The Palestinian Liaison Office was informed of Ghannam’s death by Israeli authorities this morning.
Ghannam is the second Palestinian to be killed in the village of Jaba’ this week.
