Mysterious Acute Hepatitis Appears in Gaza

Jerusalem24 – The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced, on Tuesday evening, the first case of acute hepatitis of unknown etiology, which is an 8-year-old child.

The ministry indicated in a statement that the patient suffers from acute and severe hepatitis, which necessitated his admission to the intensive care unit to receive appropriate treatment.

It also indicated that its teams are conducting an epidemiological investigation of the case and vigorous follow-up to monitor any other cases.

They also pointed out that the ministry had activated the surveillance system for such cases, after recording several infections globally with this disease.

The World Health Organization recorded 170 cases of acute and severe hepatitis this month in many countries of the world. The cause behind these cases has not yet been identified.
