Tubbeh Palestine: another way to save our heritage

Jerusalem24 – Suad, owner, and creator of Tubbeh Palestine started her Instagram page as a hobby and love for Tatreez -embroidery-. “I grew up around Palestinian women who made their own thobes which inspired me. We wear our precious thobes to weddings, social gatherings, sometimes daily” she says.

Suad considers her love for embroidery as a contribution to help preserve the heritage by making it possible for every woman to own her personal thobe.

“The most important way is to connect with the elder women in our society. The grandmothers are the guardians of our culture” Suad adds.

“Palestinian Embroidery (Tatreez) has various motifs (cross stitches), patterns and techniques, the stories in the stitches are mainly about different produce from various cities, the geography, and plants of the area”.  Suad says that the pattern of the city of Yafa is orange blossom and we can observe the cedar trees forming the borders of the thobe simply because cedar trees fence the orange orchard in real life!!.
