Seven years breathing through the mouth
Claims that the Israeli prison is deliberately and systematically delaying treatment to a Palestinian detainee
Jerusalem24 – The Commission of Detainees and Ex-Detainees Affairs said in a statement today, that 37-year-old Israa’ Ja’abis from Jabal Al-Mukabar, is suffering from deliberate neglect by the Israeli authorities towards her difficult health condition.
Ja’abis, who was arrested on October 11th, 2015 while driving her car near the town of Z’ayem and was accused of attempting an attack with her vehicle. Ja’abis, was severely wounded when a gas tank she was transporting in her car as she was moving from one home to another exploded.
The resulting fire caused extensive burns all across her body. Due to tissue damage she can only breathe from her mouth, what was left of her fingers have melted to each other and not to forget the severe burns that cover two thirds of her body.
The Commission stated that Ja’abis, who is sentenced to 11 years in prison and is currently in Damon Prison, needs urgent surgeries. However, the Israeli prison service has deliberately and systematically delayed providing the necessary treatment to her.
