General strike in Umm al-Fahm protesting murders

Jerusalem24 – The city of Umm Al-Fahm is observing a general strike today in protest of the recent murders that shook the city, and claimed the lives of three young men.

The strike was decided after a statement was issued by the municipality after its emergency session, in which it discussed methods to address the murders that took place in the city in recent days.

According to the statement, the strike includes shops, public and private institutions and schools with the exception of private education. The statement called on all citizens in the city to abide by it.

The statement also called on imams and preachers of mosques to allocate the Friday sermon to talk about the conditions the city is going through. Asking them to give priority to the language of dialogue, discussion, forgiveness, and tolerance among people and between the opposing parties.

Since the beginning of the year, eight young men were killed in the city of Umm Al-Fahm.
