Prisoners Commission warns of the deterioration of the health status of prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid
Jerusalem24 – Today, Tuesday, the Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs Commission warned of the deterioration of the health condition of the prisoner Nasser Abu Hamid, who suffers from a lung tumor, of which the exact nature of has not yet been determined until now.
In a press statement, the Commission said, that the prisoner Abu Hamid was returned from the Israeli “Barzilai” Hospital to “Ashkelon” prison last Wednesday, where he refused to stay pending the operation scheduled for next week in protest against the procedures and restrictions, which he was dealing with.
The Commission indicated that Abu Hamid was bound by one of his hands and feet to the hospital bed, even during examinations, in addition to imposing a heavy security presence on him.
The Commission continued, “Abu Hamid conducted several tests in the hospital a few days ago, and he is scheduled to undergo a 3-hour surgery next week in order to remove the tumor, as he was informed by the doctors.”
The Commission explained that Abu Hamid is still suffering from a severe cough, in addition to his continued weight loss and vomiting, a constant feeling of lethargy, general fatigue, and an a constant fever.
It is noteworthy that 49-year-old Abu Hamid, from the Al-Amari refugee camp in Ramallah, has been detained since 2002 and sentenced to seven life sentences and 50 years. He is among five brothers facing life sentences in detention. His home has been demolished several times by Israel forces, and his mother was deprived of visiting him for several years.
