Discovery of a new settlement plan to establish a sewage line on the lands of Deir Estiya

Jerusalem24 – The Governor of the Salfit Governorate, Major General Abdullah Kamil, said that the Israeli occupation is seeking to establish a new settlement project West of the Salfit Governorate to establish a sewage line that passes through the lands of the town of Deir Estiya.

The governor stressed the need to move at various levels to stop this plan, which could mean the confiscation of thousands of dunums of citizens’ lands for settlement expansion. Which would also constitute an environmental disaster and steal Palestinian lands. He also called on the Municipal Council of Deir Estiya to move immediately and communicate with the owners of the targeted lands to provide the necessary papers for legal pleading with the competent authorities.

In turn, the mayor of Deir Estiya, Saeed Zeidan, indicated that the path of the settlement sewage line project. According to what was published on some Israeli websites, extends with a length of (8 km) and a width of (30 m). It will start at the settlement of Emmanuel and move through the lands of Deir Estiya. Crossing through Al-Masahil, Wadi Jbara, Wadi Al-Qa’dah and the neighboring areas all the way to Wadi Qana.

Zeidan stressed the municipality will take action at all levels to nullify this project, which is being supported by Israeli settlement associations.
