Watchdog: Israeli plan to take over 60% of Palestinian properties in Jerusalem.

Jerusalem24 – The Civic Coalition for Palestinian Rights in Jerusalem warned that the Israeli government’s decision to start settling real estate rights and registering land in East Jerusalem threatens to confiscate about 60% of the city’s properties.

The coalition said, “We warn Jerusalemites against the Israeli government’s decision to start settling real estate rights and registering land in the city of Jerusalem.”

He added, “settlement of property in Jerusalem is a step towards control and threatens to confiscate about 60% of property in Jerusalem by imposing Israeli standards in settlement procedures.”

The coalition stressed that, “the most dangerous thing in the property settlement is the activation and application of the Absentee Property Law.”

They also said, “settlement of property will force Jerusalemites to pay exorbitant taxes upon property registration.”

They continued, “the absence and unavailability of the necessary documents to prove ownership means the confiscation of the land,” pointing out that “there is no data or a comprehensive survey of the property.”

The coalition continued, “settlement of property means legalizing counterfeiting deals for sales and diversion of property, and legalizing and legalizing settlements in the city.”

The coalition indicated that, “settling property in Jerusalem is a 100% political step to perpetuate the occupation and is part of the displacement policy in the city of Jerusalem.”

The coalition said, “settlement of property in occupied Jerusalem is a clear violation of international laws and norms, since Jerusalem is an occupied city.”

The Israeli authorities had begun summoning Palestinians to register real estate in a number of neighborhoods in the city.
