Calls for a meeting to set an agenda for elections
According to Mezher the Palestinians need to rebuild the PLO and lay the foundations for its reconstruction and restructuring as the vessel that safeguards their national and democratic goals.
Jerusalem24 – Yesterday, Saturday, Jamil Mezher, a member of the Political Bureau of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine, called on the general secretaries of the factions to hold an immediate and urgent meeting and deal with it as a temporary leadership framework and a political reference for the Palestinian people, in order to reach agreement on the formation of a new National Council; and to determine an agenda for holding comprehensive elections in order to rebuild the political system.
Mezher said in his speech, “The serious challenges before us cannot be faced by constantly betting on American promises, or sticking to the political projects that were built on the basis of the Oslo approach and its security approach,” calling for this to be overturned by building a unified national program based on the option of resistance and accelerating the implementation of decisions. According to Mezher, the national consensus is to disengage from the Oslo Agreement, disengage from the occupation, rebuild the Liberation Organization and lay the foundations for its reconstruction and restructuring as the vessel that unites the Palestinian people at home and abroad and safeguards their national and democratic goals.
The leader of the Popular Movement renewed the call for a serious national stand with oneself, through which it establishes partnership, national rights and freedoms, democracy, and a unified national strategy for the Palestinian people and their energies in the homeland and the diaspora, ensuring inclusiveness and fair representation for all nationalities wherever they are, and liberating society from the corrupt and tampering with its wealth and natural resources.
