Settlers destroy 140 olive seedlings in Al-Khader
Jerusalem24 – Friday, a civilian was injured and dozens suffocated, and dozens were detained during the occupation forces’ suppression of two protests condemning the settlements in the Tubas and Qalqilya governorates. This comes at a time when large areas of citizens’ lands were isolated after setting up an iron gate at the entrance to Jabal Al-Fardis in the Bethlehem governorat, and the destruction of 140 olive seedlings, in the lands of the town of Al-Khader in the same governorate.
A citizen was injured by rubber-coated metal bullets, and dozens of people suffocated with tear gas, during the Israeli forces’ suppression of a march rejecting the annexation plan and the settlers’ attacks in the northern Jordan Valley, near the Tayseer military checkpoint east of Tubas.
Local sources reported that the citizens responded to the callsof the Factional Coordination Committee, the Wall and Settlement Resistance Committee, and the activists of the Toubas Governorate, to participate in the mass march, denouncing the settlers’ attempts to control more than one site in the area. They pointed out that the occupation forces attacked the participants in the march, firing bullets and tear gas canisters, which led to many injuries.
Later, the Settlement and Wall Resistance Commission reported that the Israeli forces detained a bus carrying 50 young men at the Tayseer checkpoint and took them to an military camp in the area.
In the town of Kafr Qaddoum, East of Qalqilya, dozens of people suffocated from tear gas during the suppression of a march condemning the settlements there.
The media spokesman in Qalqilya region, Murad Shteiwi, said that Friday afternoon, hundreds of residents of the town participated in the demonstrations, who chanted national slogans against the occupation and condemning its crimes. He pointed out that violent confrontations erupted in the wake of the suppression of the march, during which the young men confronted the Israeli soldiers with stones and were able to uncover an ambush set by them. He stated that immediately after the ambush was detected, the occupation soldiers started firing live bullets indiscriminately.
On the other hand, the Israeli forces erected an iron gate at the entrance to Jabal Al-Fardis, East of Bethlehem, and built a communications tower there.
The director of the commission’s office in Bethlehem, Hassan Breijieh, said that the erection of the gate will prevent citizens from accessing their lands, at a time when the Israeli authorities are stepping up their settlement measures in the Al-Fardis and Jubb Al-Dib area.
In terms of settler attacks, settlers destroyed 140 olive seedlings in the lands of Al-Khader town, South of Bethlehem.
The youth activist in the town, Ahmed Salah, stated that the settlers destroyed olive seedlings and sprayed them with pesticides, in the area of Wadi Abu Bakir, on which the settlements of “Daniel” and “Eleazar” are built, adding that its ownership belongs to the citizen Youssef Abd Hejer.
Salah confirmed that the settlers planted 14 dunums of olive, peach and almond seedlings on the lands of citizens of the Musa family, and built a settlement road 100 meters long and two meters wide.
