The European Union stresses the importance of a two-state solution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict
The EU comments were made after Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid said that the two-state solution was "not viable."
Jerusalem24 – The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Josep Borrell, stressed the importance of a two-state solution.
In press statements he made, after the meeting of the Council on Foreign Relations of the European Union, Borrell said: “Israel’s security can only be achieved through the two-state solution.”
He explained that they are waiting for Israel to present a political viewpoint in order to end the existing conflict, noting that reaching a solution with the Palestinians will contribute positively to Israel’s security.
The European official’s comments came after Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid confirmed that the two-state solution was “not viable at the present time.”
