Israel re-imposes mask mandate in closed spaces as cases increase

Jerusalem24 – Israeli authorities reintroduced the mask mandate in enclosed spaces; after a rise in the number of Corona virus infections in a country that boasted that it was the first to overcome the epidemic thanks to a large-scale vaccination campaign.
On June 15, Israel allowed its residents to stop wearing masks, after a massive vaccination campaign that included more than half of its nine million residents. But the health authorities have warned, in recent days, of a new rise in the number of infections, likely due to the highly contagious “Delta” variant, which appeared in India and then spread to several countries in the world.
The Israeli Ministry of Health said, in a statement: “Putting the face mask on has become mandatory, starting from Friday noon in all places that are not open except inside the house.” Since last Monday, more than 100 cases of “Corona” have been recorded daily in Israel.
