Palestinians outraged at extra travel costs due to Jordanian travel platform

Jerusalem24 – Haya Rimawi – In the recent period, the costs of travel from Palestine to Jordan and registration via the platform took a large part of people’s talk and news on social media, due to the large jump in costs in light of the Corona pandemic, and we will review these costs in this report.

At the outset, we make it clear that traveling to Jordan requires registration on the platform, but if you intend to travel outside Jordan, you can go to the airport directly and without registering on the platform, but the costs vary according to the date of the plane, and we will take here two cases to clarify the costs imposed on the traveler.

An individual who wants to travel from Ramallah to Amman:

• Transportation fare from Ramallah to Jericho is 50 shekels
• Departure tax is 153 shekels
• Bus ticket 36 shekels
• Baggage ticket 16 per bag
• Corona examination from the Palestinian Ministry of Health 150 shekels
• Corona examination on the Jordanian side is 28 dinars (129 shekels), they must be paid on the platform when determining the day of travel by bank card.
• Departure fee for the Jordanian side 10 dinars (46 shekels)
• The transportation fare from the Jordanian bridge to Amman is 20 dinars (92 shekels)

* That is, the traveler needs at least 672 shekels to reach Jordan.

Know that the platform on which to register for travel opens only on Tuesdays at 12 noon, and for a period of half an hour. In most cases, the traveler faces difficulties in registering; so they resort to a tourist office and pay approximately 280 to 300 shekels for the office.

An individual wants to travel from Ramallah to Turkey, and the flight time is at 3:00 am:

• The transportation fare from Ramallah to Jericho is 50 shekels
• Departure tax is 153 shekels
• Bus ticket 36 shekels
• Baggage ticket 16 per bag
• Corona examination from the Palestinian Ministry of Health 150 shekels
• Departure fee for the Jordanian side 10 dinars (46 shekels)
• The transportation fare from the Jordanian bridge to the airport is 20 dinars (92 shekels)
• The price of staying at the airport hotel for one night is 90 dinars (414 shekels).

(It is mandatory to book it in case the flight is late because you cannot enter Jordan without registering through the platform and it is not permissible to wait at the airport).

* That is, the traveler needs at least 957 shekels to get from the city of Ramallah to the Jordanian Queen Alia International Airport.
