Settlers attack residents of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood
Tensions are still high in the Jerusalem neighborhood
Jerusalem24 – Last night, Saturday, settlers attacked the residents of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, and attacked the homes of citizens close to the homes that they had forcibly seized in the neighborhood north of Jerusalem.
Eyewitnesses reported that the citizens confronted the settlers, but the Israeli army and police attacked the residents by firing stun grenades and tear gas at them.
Through videos posted on social media, the residents of Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood appealed to Jerusalemites to head to the neighborhood in order to stand by them and support them in the face of the settlers’ attack.
Activist Mona Al-Kurd explained that the occupation has set the date of appeal for four families threatened with deportation (Al-Kurd, Al-Qasim, Al-Jaouni and Skeefe) on August 8th, later this year in the Israeli Supreme Court.
It is noteworthy that the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood is currently closed off with cement blocks, in addition to military checkpoints, iron barricades, and dozens of police and army personnel who have besieged the neighborhood for the past 34 days, preventing anyone from entering it except for its residents.
