Abbas extends state of emergency for 30 more days
The state of emergency is an extension to confront the Coronavirus Pandemic
Jerusalem24 – Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas today issued a decree extending the state of emergency in Palestine over coronavirus for another 30 days.
The state of emergency was imposed the first time in March of last year following the discovery of the first cases of the disease in the West Bank city of Bethlehem in an effort to combat the spread of the coronavirus pandemic. It has been either renewed or extended since then.
Along with the state of emergency, the Palestinian government has been taking strict restrictive steps and a series of lockdowns to control the pandemic, which comes and goes in waves, as the population is being inoculated against the disease.
