Burj Al-Luqluq Community Society was established in 1991, for nearly 30 years, the association has been working to provide various services to the Jerusalemite community inside and outside the walls of the Old City, which can be summarized in aspects of the socio-economic empowerment of the population, and the association is the only outlet and the only safe place for children and adults also within the walls The Old City. Therefore, the residents had the credit for this establishment by forming a community committee, which in turn declared the land a sports and social club, and the association was legally and officially registered.
Work has not stopped since its establishment to this day, but it is worth noting that the year 2020 was a year of challenges for the association. Most of the institutions in Jerusalem suffered from a lack of funding compared to previous years in addition to the economic and social conditions surrounding the Corona pandemic, which had the greatest impact in terms of work in light of difficult and emergency circumstances. The association had a real presence in the darkest and darkest moments for the citizen of Jerusalem, and the association was able to turn the wheel of activities and events in a way that serves the prevention of this virus and at the same moment resist it through the implementation of the awareness plans that were accompanied by economic support specifically with regard to Prevention requirements, including the distribution of masks and sterilizers to the population inside the Old City, accompanied by awareness and educational leaflets, and participation in the community committees that were formed to address this pandemic.
The association was not satisfied with this role at all, but the association sensed the importance of supporting the population at this time despite the recent experience and the importance of replacing the psychological, social and economic support that the association played over the past thirty years and turning it into different and new means looking for solutions and alternatives to continue working professionally with modern and international technologies and programs Especially it was built specifically to match the system of work within the corridors of the tower, but also urged us to fight the field and fight the epidemic and reach all groups and segments that we serve in the Old City of Jerusalem and its surroundings.
Work in the field is the title of the Burj Al-Luqluq Community Association. Seeking to present what they could in terms of projects, programs, and activities that empower Palestinians in Jerusalem socially, culturally and economically.
