Palestinian national dialogue resumes in Cairo

With the arrival of factions and other delegations the resumption of the national dialogue meeting starts today.

Jerusalem24 – Delegations of the Palestinian political factions, the National Council and the Central Elections Committee arrived yesterday evening in the Egyptian capital, Cairo, in preparation for the resumption of the national dialogue meeting scheduled to start today.

The two-day meetings will discuss several important issues related to the upcoming Palestinian elections, the most prominent of which is overcoming obstacles facing the elections and briefing the factions on the latest developments with the elections, which are considered a gateway to achieving comprehensive national unity.

The meetings, which will be held with the participation of the Palestinian factions, the National Council and the Elections Commission, will also focus on the elections of the Palestinian National Council (PNC), the highest Palestinian decision-making body, and the situation with the Palestine Liberation Organization (PLO).

The Palestinian factions held a meeting last month in Cairo during which they discussed many issues related to the elections and agreed then to hold another meeting at the middle of this month to sort out all other outstanding issues.

Legislative elections are planned for May 22, presidential for July 31, and PNC elections for August 31.
