The launch of the 155th session of the Council of the Arab League
With the participation of Palestine, the 155th session of the Council of the Arab League took off today.
Jerusalem24 – Today, Wednesday, the work of the Arab League Council started at the level of Arab foreign ministers in its ordinary 155th session, headed by the State of Qatar, with the participation of the Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, and a number of assistant secretaries general of the Arab League.
The Ministerial Council will discuss – in attendance – at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of The Arab League in Cairo, the draft agenda and approve the decisions submitted by the permanent delegates at their meeting held the day before yesterday.
The draft agenda includes 9 main items, foremost of which is the first item related to joint Arab action, It also includes the appointment of the Secretary-General of the Arab League for a period of five years, as Egypt nominated Ahmed Aboul Gheit for a second term. This item also includes the draft agenda for the next Arab summit at its 31st session to be held in Algeria.
The second item deals with the Palestinian issue and the Arab-Israeli conflict, and includes following up the political developments of the Palestinian issue and the Arab-Israeli conflict, activating the Arab peace initiative, Israeli developments and violations in the occupied city of Jerusalem, following up on the budget of the State of Palestine and the steadfastness of the Palestinian people, Arab water security, and Israel’s theft of water in the occupied lands. The third item also deals with Arab affairs and Arab national security.
As for the delegation of the State of Palestine to the Council, it was headed at a ministerial level: Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Riyad Al-Malki, in the presence of the duty ambassador at the university Muhannad Al-Aklouk, the director of the General Administration of Arab Affairs in the ministry, Ambassador Fayez Abu Al-Rub, and the adviser Jumana Al-Ghoul Palestine’s delegate to the Arab League.
