Netanyahu and Gantz to postpone the dissolution of the Knesset

The Knesset Committee will hold a special session today.

Jerusalem24 – 24 hours before the dissolution of the Knesset due to the absence of the budget, Israeli media announced last night that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu agreed with his army minister, Benny Gantz, to delay the dissolution of the Knesset for two weeks.

Israeli Channel “12” reported that the deadline for dissolving the Knesset shifted to the fifth of next January instead of this coming Wednesday.

Moreover, the channel said that the agreement stipulates that if no agreement is reached to pass the budget by that date, the Knesset will be dissolved. Hence, early elections will be announced on March 23, 2021.

Meanwhile, Gantz’s “Blue and White” party was quoted saying in a statement distributed to the media last night that a bill will be presented today to postpone passing the budget until the 5th of next month.

It is expected that the Knesset Committee will hold a special session today to discuss passing the aforementioned bill.
