Jerusalem24 – The French Foreign Ministry condemned the decision of the Israeli occupation authorities to issue a tender for the construction of 1257 new settlement units in the settlement of “Givat Hamatos”, which is built on the lands of the town of Beit Safafa, southeast of occupied Jerusalem, and considered it illegal.
In a press release, the ministry called on Israeli officials to withdraw the decision.
She stated that “the expansion of this illegal settlement directly affects the possibility of establishing a Palestinian state in the future, as the European Union has indicated repeatedly.”
She added: “France wants to end all unilateral steps taken in the region, because it complicates the two-state solution on the basis of internationally accepted standards that could lead to a just and lasting peace.”
