150,000 Palestinians in Al-Aqsa for Eid Al-Adha
Jerusalem24 – Around 150,000 worshippers attended prayers at Al-Aqsa Mosque in Jerusalem on Eid Al-Adha, filling the courtyard of the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound and the alleys of the Old City.
Volunteers distributed gifts to children and sweets to worshippers.
The occasion passed without any significant incidents, despite a heavy Israeli police presence and several checkpoints set up around and within the Old City.
According to the office of the Jerusalem Governorate, Israeli forces stormed the courtyard of Al-Aqsa Mosque and removed some banners. The office also reported settlers wearing t-shirts with “inciteful” slogans in the vicinity of Bab Al-Amoud.
Bab Al-Amoud is one of the gates to the Old City which serves as a gathering place for Palestinian Jerusalemites, especially during the holidays.
