Israeli settlers carving road on Palestinian lands
In this episode of Wake Up Palestine, a member of Al-Bireh Municipal Council gives us the details.
Jerusalem24 – On 2 June, the Al-Bireh Municipality was informed of a new road that was being constructed by Israeli settlers in the northern lands of the city between Beit El and Route No. 60.
“We look at this road as another step in suffocating the city of Al-Bireh,” Muneef Traish, a member of the Al-Bireh Municipal Council, told Jerusalem24.
A joint committee was formed between the Al-Bireh Municipality and the town council of Ein Yabroud to follow up on this issue. The committee prepared a proposed plan that includes asking the affected landowners to provide the committee with registration documents for these lands.
“We are going to use any legal means to stop this particular road,” says Traish.
Among the committee’s tasks is to inform the Palestinian Americans, from both Ein Yabroud and Al-Bireh, who own affected lands, and push for legal action in the United States.
In this episode of Wake Up Palestine, Traish explains what the municipality has found out so far and their plan to confront the encroaching settlement project.
