Lehava calls for dismantling of the Dome of the Rock
Jerusalem24 – The Lehava settler organization is calling for the dismantling of the Dome of the Rock and the inauguration of the so-called Temple in the courtyards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.
Chairman of the Lehava organization Bentzi Gopstein published on social media networks a call to mobilization, asking the “Temple organizations” as well as the Israeli right-wing to storm the courtyards of Al-Aqsa Mosque on Jerusalem Day (28 May) and dismantle the Dome of the Rock and build the Temple in its place.
“Jerusalem Day is the day the demolition of the Dome of the Rock will begin,” said Gopstein.
Jerusalem Day is celebrated on May 28, according to the Hebrew calendar, or in proximity to that date. Israel occupied East Jerusalem on June 7 1967 over the course of the Six-Day War.
During Ramadan last year Lehava called for “disciplining the Arabs”. It instructed its followers to arm themselves with whatever tools they could and head to Bab Al-Amoud square (Damascus Gate) in occupied Jerusalem.
Lehava calls openly and publicly for the expulsion of all Arabs from the land of historic Palestine.
Deputy Director General of the Islamic Endowment in Jerusalem, Najeh Bakirat, told Safa news agency on Wednesday, “Such calls serve the project of the Jewish state, and the claim that Jerusalem is a Jewish city. It also aims to remove the Palestinian, Arab and Islamic presence from Al-Aqsa Mosque, as well as the identity of the holy city.”
