Bennett calls for formation of civilian national guard
Jerusalem24- Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett is calling for the formation of a “civilian national guard” following an attack in Elad last Thursday which left three Israelis dead.
Bennett made the announcement in a Twitter thread published on Sunday, in which he said he “instructed the National Security Council and the Ministry of Defense to present […] a plan for the establishment of a Civilian National Guard,” to be called up in cases of emergencies, riots, or on request.

In the same thread, Bennett announced a new police operation was underway to address what he called the “phenomenon” of illegal immigrants in Israel, which he described as “a scourge of the state”.
