Gantz: Settlement Construction Will Continue

Statements made during a press briefing for the Washington Institute for Middle East Policy

Jerusalem24 – In a press briefing organized by the Washington Institute for Middle East Policy today, Tuesday, Benny Gantz said that settlements construction in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem will not stop.

He also said Palestinians will be allowed to build in the future in areas controlled by his army, depending on the assessment of the situation.

Gantz’s words came during a press briefing for foreign researchers and journalists organized by the Washington Institute for Middle East Policy.

He added, “We will not stop building, and at the same time we will move forward by taking economic and civil measures for the benefit of the Palestinians, but this is related to the state of calm and security stability.” referring to the measures recently taken in this regard, including limited facilities regarding Ramadan, as well as increasing the share of workers, especially from Gaza, which he said If the truce continues, the number of work permits can be expanded and more civil steps taken.

Gantz stressed that his forces are ready to deal with any escalation, even if it is from Gaza or Lebanon, praising the Palestinian Authority’s condemnation of the recent operations, and calling on it to act against its officials, especially in Jenin, whom he accused of “inciting terrorism.”
