Made in Palestine: Creating and Promoting Palestinian Art
Kuffiyehs that tell the vivid story of the Palestinian livelihood, the Palestine the creator likes to see beyond the occupation, the struggle, and daily difficulties.
Jerusalem24 – “Made in Palestine Project” kuffiyeh designer Rashid Abdelhamid, adds lively and upbeat colors to traditional Palestinian kuffiyehs, fusing tradition and modernity, and draws inspiration from the Palestinian kuffiyeh adding his own innovative touch by using modern fabrics and bold motifs.
Kuffiyeh is a traditional headdress worn by Palestinians, and a national symbol since the 1930s when rebels wore it in their fight against the British Mandate.
While we’re used to the classic Kuffiyeh, white-black and white-red colored, crafted using premium-grade cotton, Abdelhamid choses to express himself and contribute to the Palestinian narrative and story by designing his own versions, vibrant and colorful Keffiyehs that tell the vivid story of the Palestinian livelihood, the Palestine he likes to see beyond the occupation, the struggle, and daily difficulties.
