Wake Up Palestine – The Challenges of Running in Local Elections

Jerusalem24 – Around the world, local elections are held to face the problems and challenges that the community is facing. This is no different in Palestine, heading into the second phase of the local elections.

The Palestinian city of Al-Bireh is having its electoral campaign as several Palestinian electoral blocs, including the incumbent mayor of the city will be running for the municipality.

The National List for Building and Development, headed by Munif Traish is one of the blocs running in the elections. They have stated that they are willing to face the traditional challenges as well as some not-so-traditional challenges faced by the municipality in Al-Bireh.

One of Al-Bireh’s major problems is Israeli settlement expansion policies by the settlements surrounding the city, which prevented the municipality from disposing of their garbage in the Al-Bireh landfill.

In this episode of Wake Up Palestine, Munif Traish, head of the National List for Building and Development talks about the challenges any municipality will face in Palestine.
