Jerusalem24 – Irish lawmaker Richard Boyd Barret made headlines again, calling out what he saw as double standards within the Irish government for its swift decision on imposing sanctions on Russia for its invasion of Ukraine, but not doing the same for Israel’s occupation of Palestine.
He also said that Amnesty International has called for Israel to be referred to the International Criminal Court for crimes against humanity.
A video clip of him debating his point found its way to social media, garnering much attention in Palestine and beyond.

Barrett sits in the Irish parliament for the left-wing People Before Profit party.
In an interview with Jerusalem24, he said, “we have to call things out for what they are.”
