officials expressed fears that violence could spill over to other regions.
Jerusalem24 – The Israeli daily newspaper, Haaretz, reported that senior officials in the Israeli police had warned against the actions of the police chief in occupied Jerusalem towards the Palestinians. They said the actions of the police will escalate the situation.
The newspaper quoted officials as saying that the instructions and orders of the police chief in Jerusalem, Doron Turgeman, were exaggerated. They mentioned that what happened on the day of the Isra and Mi’raj was unjustified, especially the injury of a girl with a sound bomb in her face.
They added, “If Turgeman continues his violent policies, the confrontations will move to other places such as Umm al-Fahm and the Bedouin villages in the Negev. The current situation indicates a loss of control, and the reason is the policy of the Jerusalem police chief.”
The Israeli police suppressed the participants in the commemoration of the Isra and Mi’raj at the Damascus Gate in occupied Jerusalem. With some Palestinians physically assaulted and others suffocating from tear gas. One little girl had her jaw broken from a flashbang and was taken in for medical care.
