Jerusalem24 – Nir Hasson, the correspondent of the Hebrew newspaper Haaretz in occupied Jerusalem, said today Wednesday, that the danger of escalation due to the recent events in Jerusalem, especially the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood has not ended.
According to Hassoun, the decision to freeze the evacuation of the Salem family’s home from the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood, which is considered a powder keg. The tension of events in recent days in the neighborhood is not the only event that could lead to an explosive situation in Jerusalem and an extension of a confrontation with Hamas in Gaza.
In his article in the newspaper, Hassoun indicated that the office of the far-right MK Itamar Ben Gvir remains in place, and the settlers’ provocations continue.
“One mistake could lead to a deterioration of the situation,” he said. “A single incident in which injuries may occur may suddenly change the situation.”
He also pointed to the Israeli fears in recent days of the possibility of a military confrontation with Hamas in Gaza, due to the events of Sheikh Jarrah.
