Israeli authorities seal home of Palestinian refugees
Over 150 troopers stormed the Shufat refugee camp.
Jerusalem24 – Tuesday morning, the Israeli authorities sealed the house of the Fadi Abu Shkhaydam, and destroyed its contents in the Shuafat refugee camp, northeast of occupied Jerusalem.
Abu Shkaydam was the perpetrator of a shooting attack in the old city of Jerusalem 3 months ago, he was killed by Israeli forces.
Local sources in Jerusalem reported that about one hundred and fifty soldiers stormed the Shuafat camp and proceeded to seal the home of Abu Shkhaydm.
The troops smashed all the doors of the apartments and the car park, although the decision to close was only for Abu Shkhaydm’s apartment.
The police decided to seal the house instead of demolishing it; because of other homes adjacent to it.
Moreover, the Israeli authorities sent military reinforcements to the Shuafat refugee camp, which later escalated into confrontations in the vicinity of the Abu Shkhaydm house.
The Israeli Supreme Court had rejected the objection submitted by the family of the Abu Shkhaydam against the military order to demolish their house.
In early January, the Israeli Defense Ministry rejected the family’s objection to the military order to demolish their home. After that, the Israeli forces stormed the house and completed its final measurements, photographed it for the second time, and examined the walls in preparation for its demolition.
Abu Shkhaydam’s death was followed by a series of punitive measures against his wife and children. They were detained and interrogated. Even his 8-year-old son was detained and interrogated.
