Palestinian detainee infected with COVID19
Amal Nakhleh also suffers from an auto-immune disease.

Jerusalem24 –This morning, it was announced that Amal Nakhleh who had turned 18 in prison, had been infected with the Corona virus.
Nakhleh, suffers from a critical health condition since his childhood, as he was diagnosed with severe myasthenia gravis, a chronic autoimmune disorder in which antibodies destroy the communication between nerves and muscle. The disease requires medical care and continuous monitoring.
A few months after his arrest, he underwent surgery to remove a cancerous tumor.
The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF), the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA) and the High Commissioner for Human Rights called on the Israeli authorities to immediately release the him.
UN organizations said in a statement, “the Israeli government has extended Amal Nakhleh’s detention period until May 18, 2022, without being charged or tried. Amal was 17 years old when he was arrested, and he has been in administrative detention for more than of a year”.
