Palestinian detainee suffering serious health deterioration

49-year-old Nasser Abu Hamid also had a cancerous tumor removed from his lung.

Jerusalem24 – The Prisoners and Ex-Prisoners Affairs commission published a statement that said that the health condition of the cancer-stricken prisoner, Nasser Abu Hamid is critical.

49-year-old Abu Hamid has been undergoing chemotherapy sessions when his health condition worsened.

The lawyer for the commission quoted his brother Nasr, who said that two days after Nasser took the second dose of chemotherapy, his health deteriorated significantly. His temperature rose to 40 degrees, in addition to suffering from difficulty walking and body aches.

He added, that his brother’s immunity has dropped has been in Barzilai Hospital since last Thursday until now, and his condition is very worrying.

Abu Hamid had undergone an operation to remove a malignant cancerous tumor from his lungs last October, and 10 cm from the tumor’s circumference was also removed.

Nasser Abu Hamid is from the Al-Amari Refugee Camp in Ramallah. He has been detained since 2002, he has been sentenced to seven life sentences and 50 years.

He is among five brothers facing life sentences in detention, and their house has been demolished several times by the Israeli Military. Their mother was denied visitation for several years.

In this context, the commission appealed to all official and popular local and international bodies to make all efforts to release Nasser Abu Hamid.
